Alderbrook Acres Ltd. is Newfoundland's complete nursery sod and landscaping company with a dedication to providing the finest Kentucky Bluegrass lawns available for over thirty years!

We have been growing the finest Kentucky Bluegrass sods in Pasadena since 1994! We chose a blend of four varieties of Kentucky Bluegrass seed because it is ideal for the maritime environment. Unlike many competitors, we also treat our soil using limestone to promote a healthy and hearty sod.

Alderbrook Acres is the oldest and largest nursery sod farm in Western NL. Our team of experienced workers provide services for residential, commercial, and government accounts.

We are the only producer to use a sod harvester. This allows us to stack sod onto pallets. We deliver using a forklift, allowing us to place the sods wherever you need them. This means there is less carrying required. Also, because the sod pieces are smaller they are lighter and easier to handle than big rolls.

We install! We are proud to have installed most of the larger local jobs and work with 95% of local contractors exclusively covering Central and Western Newfoundland and Labrador. We have even shipped tractor-trailer loads of sod as far as St. John's due to the quality of the sod we produce!

We also offer topsoil that is the same soil we have used to grow our sods for the last thirty years. It is a mixture of mineral soil, turf, agriculture lime, and nutrients left from our sod growing operations.

We do not recommend a heavy mixture of black soil for sods as it creates a sod that is softer, weaker, and prone to more weeds. It also tends to wear more in high-traffic areas. Black soil is good in vegetable gardens as it retains more moisture, and the weeds can be removed by hand.

Mineral soil is best for sod as it produces a heartier sod that is more resistant to weeds and easier to spread, even in damp conditions. The Newfoundland government specifies mineral soil for their landscaping jobs.
